2005 Undergraduate Winners

First Place – $20,000
HU Buy – Harding University

HU Buy is an auction-based website built specifically for university students. HU Buy helps students while assisting local vendors develop an online market presence.

Second Place – $10,000
Integrated Shipping Solutions – University of Arkansas at Fort Smith
Team members: K. Michael Pyle, Michael Pierce, Brady Marston
Faculty advisor: Dr. Roger D. Roderick
Integrated Shipping Solutions has designed the eco-pallet. Made of recycled rubber and plastic, this innovative shipping platform is more durable, flexible and cheaper than standard plastic pallets. Although more costly than wood pallets, its durability can successfully meet the demands of any pallet user.

Third Place – $5,000
River Valley Biodiesel Refinery – Arkansas Tech University
Team Members: Crystal Washington, Jeremy Aylett, Eric Yates, Richard Smart, Megan Judy River
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Loretta Cochran
Valley Biodiesel Refinery is the first producer of biodiesel in Arkansas. Valley Biodiesel Refinery’s mission is to produce a quality diesel fuel alternative for regional distribution that minimizes environmental damage from pollution and reduces dependence on foreign petroleum sources.

Earthgard, Inc. – University of Arkansas at Fayetteville

Earthgard has developed the patented and scientifically proven R3F filter technology to meet urgent water and wastewater demands in small communities in the United States and the world.

Second Place – $10,000
Bandgap Protectives – University of Arkansas at Fayetteville
Team Members: Marie Josee Le Jour McDonagh, Kyle Stacey, Max Bachman
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Carol Reeves
Bandgap Protectives specializes in the manufacture and marketing of silicon crystalline nanoparticles featuring a patent pending UV ray-trapping technology. Suntrappers will revolutionize the way we protect ourselves from ultraviolet radiation.

Third Place – $5,000
Trager Technologies – University of Arkansas at Fayetteville

Trager Technologies is revolutionizing locomotive diesel exhaust design with the patent-pending Trager Turbo Screen.
